Since I haven't posted art for my site or on my lj, here's a practice goal piece! I give uppppppppppp.
Butchered the nose. BUTCHERED THE NOSE BADDDDDDDDddd. I lost motivation to fix it.
Of course there is room for my improvement and the shading.
THE SHADDDDDDDINNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGG.
I NEED SOME REFS GAWD DAMN IT.
I think I'll stick with dry medium for semi realistic stuff.

If I never knew youuuuuuuuuuuuuu. The musical clip that was never shown in the Pocahontas movie. So it's new but not really XD Shown in the Pocahontas 10th Anniversary DVD.
I think the direction for the clip is pretty iffy though :/ Not really disney par but I guess they wanted to animate that part in a jiffy. I do like it when they pan from the John smith, to the stars, to the river that reflects the stars and then lastly to Pocahontas rowing her boat.

So, the past entry was about the printer jam. What was I printing?, you might ask.
It was for a portfolio review for all AFD students. I THOUGHT it was a requirement for one of my classes but APPARENTLY it wasn't. Just an added 5% bonus mark towards my final grade.
It went alright. There was a panel of judges.... well 4 teachers. There were 3 teachers that I had classes with and 1 that I never had a class with but knew (he is the program coordinator). I became very VERY discouraged when I saw the other students' artwork. Also, it was a GROUP review and I was DREADING about that.
However, it wasn't so bad at all. I found out that... I would've had a high acceptance chance into animation if I had applied.
My initial reaction: Huh?
One of my teachers, who is one of the judges for the animation program orientation, told me that if I had shown the 3-4 pieces of figure drawing/tonal work that I presented to them to the animation department, I would've been accepted. Seriously, I'm not sure how to feel about hearing that O_o
I wanted to go into the animation field but... I am a heavy procrastinator. Plus my two-point perspective is... not the greatest. However, hearing that I could've been one of the fall animation students... wow. That is very surprising. I would've never thought that I had the skill to be an animation student while I was in the AFD program.
Plus I was also recommended to the illustration program but that isn't starting until January. So too late for that.
P.S. The figure drawings that I presented to them were the ones I was really proud of. I can't believe it myself that I did those.

Please, for the love of God.
Stop making anime into live action hollywood b-movies. YOU CAN'T TURN IT INTO A SUCCESSFUL MOVIE. Unless your motive is to ruin it!
I'm not even sure why there is a Dragon Ball movie and the horrible news about FMP turning into a live action is just... no. Just no. Zac Efron as Sousuke? HOW THE HECK IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE? MISCAST. MISCAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
Although, I must admit that I have hopes about the Eva movie being a success... hopefully... since it's been in production for a long time. And maybe... just maybe... HOPEFULLY, they make Akira RIGHT. It IS possible for Akira since it's an action based story with gangs and ugliness. I'm not so sure about Cowboy Bebop though. It's possible because of the story and style but they might screw it up if they hire retarded actors. Not to forget about the script. Bad script = Massive fail
It's... it's just impossible, near impossible to make an adaptation of an anime series into a good live action movie. It just doesn't work!

Now I'm going to wait for my package of acceptance... and it better be an acceptance package or my hype will be CRUSHED.

GAaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Holidays officially started for me last Thursday... well at the end of last Thursday.
It's great. I can't express how much I've been looking forward to the break. The first semester of art school is... was a very hectic semester. Projects EVERY WEEK. Not from every class, mind you, but still, it had been... a very VERY busy semester. And I don't expect my workload to be getting any lighter in the next.
And what have I learned in my first semester? Well... I've learned that I'm pretty undecided on what to do next year. Animation? Illustration? Web design? Something else? I'm not so sure anymore. My heart and soul was set for animation but as I went through the semester... I started to doubt my abilities and dedication to art. I don't think I put a lot of effort in my art... I don't think I'm striving ENOUGH to dedicate myself or to even reach the goal of learning animation.
It's not so much I'm scared of the animation department but... more like... I don't see myself doing enough. And... that's why I really think that I don't have the talent or abilities to get into the animation program. My life drawing teacher thinks otherwise... I have... no idea why he would think I'd have the ability to get into such a program either. In the last class of life drawing, he was looking through my portfolio and asked me "What did you want to apply to?" And I told him "Well... first it was animation but then it changed to illustration." He questioned me why I had changed and I truthfully told him that I couldn't seed myself committing to such tasks/work in the program.
He told me that I should apply anyways. That if I polished my skills in the next semester then I'd be able to get into the program.
Even though he encouraged me to apply... I still don't think I can see myself putting so much effort into the program. What to do? Stupid school confused me now!
Oh that just reminds me... what the heck is up with every art teacher that I have met?? They all comment that I have very "delicate" lines! Or "fluid" lines. I... maybe I just unconsciously have my own style of line that I do... uh. I don't even know when that kind of thing started. I THINK I only have that kind of line quality when I do life drawing stuff or when I draw very loosely... which happens mostly in life drawing. Oh well. I'll accept that I have "delicate" lines. My artwork is sooo delicate.
Ginko GINKO GINKOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I can't draw him. I need to fix him up still. I will... it's being done. That image up there isn't the final image. HE NEEDS TO BE FIXED.
Grammar errors are apparent because of my sleepy state :)

It's school's fault, isn't it? That's why I'm up so early! I woke up at 7:20 AM this morning and couldn't go back to sleep! What the heck!
